The Marais survived Haussmann, so this is the Paris of before — crooked lanes, hidden courtyards and the hôtels particuliers of the old nobility. We walk from Saint-Paul through the Jewish quarter on rue des Rosiers, past the Carnavalet and the Picasso museum, and finish under the arcades of the Place des Vosges.
