Gaudí Walking Tour

About this walk

We meet under the arches on Plaça Reial and walk up to the Passeig de Gràcia, taking in Casa Batlló and La Pedrera before heading towards the Sagrada Família. Along the way you get the argument Gaudí was having with his own century, the patrons who bankrolled it, and why Barcelona nearly tore some of it down. Two and a half hours, mostly flat, all outdoors.

   We meet under the arches. The lampposts are Gaudí’s first paid commission.

   Where the old city stops and Gaudí’s Barcelona begins.

   Casa Batlló

   The dragon house. Look for the bones in the balconies.

   La Pedrera (Casa Milà)

   No straight lines anywhere. The neighbours hated it.
